HAMILTON v. ”G” BATTERY. These teams met on Hie No. ! ground, Seddon Park, on Saturday, and in spite of the fact that Battery had a full team and Hamilton only nine men, the Battery went down to the extent of nine goals to nil. From the start Hamilton pressed, but for some time could not make much impression on the Battery’s defence. From a good pass across the circle by Reid, Jacobsen whipped it into goal. Shortly after a free hit was awarded to Hamilton just outside their circle. Davy putting in a line hit, Jacobsen, following up, obtained the ball and beating the goalkeeper scored again. Before half time Gower and Jacobsen added further goals. The second half was again all in favour of Hamilton, Battery being penned up in their own ‘25 practically the whole time, and Jacobsen secured another two and Gower three goals. Some of these were the outcome of good combination work among the three forwards Jacobsen, Bond and Gower, while some very line stick work was also shown. Mr G. Fabling refereed.

KIAKAHA v. FRANKTON. This match, which was decided on the No. 2 ground, resulted in a rather unexpected win for Kiakaha by two goals to one. Shortly after the commencement Frankton pressed, Smith notching a good goal. The game after this was very even, good work by both pairs of backs preventing a score. The Kiakaha forwards, however, worked the ball down and from a nice centre Booth equalised. Up to half time the play was fast and interesting, but penalisations for sticks spoilt likely scores. On resumption Frankton pressed strongly, but could not penetrate the defence. From a good clearance by Anderson, Burford obtained and put Kiakaha ahead with another good shot. In the last ten minutes Frankton made strenuous efforts to score and Stanbi'ook was called on to,save on several occasions, Mr J. Shiles had charge of the whistle. By their defeat of Frankton Hamilton arc practically assured of the cup, as they are now five points ahead and will have to lose the next three matches to give any of the other Saturday teams a chance,
