MR LLOYD GEORGE’S CAMPAIGN 4 MANDATE FROM PARLIAMENT. FARM LABOURERS’ CONDITIONS. London, February 3. The Daily News states that Mi Lloyd-George commences a platfom campaign for land reform in March, He will seek a mandate in the next Parliament to secure for the agricultural labourer a wage of £1 a week, and, if necessary, to pass a law enforcing the payment of such a wage. Secondly, Mr Lloyd-Geroge proposes that a farm labourer shall be enabled to rent a cottage and an allotment independently of working for an employer. Mr Lloyd-George proposes that farming should be placed on a scientific basis, with co operative credit for buying and selling. He also suggests reforms in the rating of large suburban properties. Received 9.50 p.m., 4tb, London, February 4. The Chronicle denied that Mr Lloyd George proposes to deal with agricultural wages on a national basis, and adds that the District or County Wages Boards will meet the local conditions. The Daily News states that as a set-off to minimum wage there shou'd be a Fair Rent Bill with fixitv of tenure for the farmer; also compensation for disturbance, with an allowance for improvement
