A series of teams matches between the British representatives and a metropolitan team was played on the Btrathficld courts which were hard and dry and the weather hot. Anderson, a schoolboy champion, played brilliantly, but the champions were aparently reserving themselves for the British Isles v. Australia matches and their play was patchy. Marsh beat Beamish B—6,8 —6, 3 —6, 6 —4; Anderson beat Lowe 46, 6 1, 6—4; Dixon and Beamish beat Marsh and Sayers 62, 6—2; Brookes and Miss Gordon beat Parke and Miss Beatt v 64, 8--G.
