AMALGAMATION NEGOITATONS. Received 10 a.m., 16th. Sydney, January 16. Arnalagmation appears to be in the industrial air at present. Besides the inter-Sla;e consolidation of the bush workers’ and the State unification of the labourers’ unions, a proposal is a foot to form an inter-Slate federation of the building trade organisations. The clerks, shop assistants and storemen are also contemplating 1 mslgamation. The Labour paper Worker announces that if the scheme is adopted by the conference of delegates and accepted by the union the amalgamations will have a roll call of 100,060. This will mark another great advance and the ideal of one big union embracing tfce workers of every calling will be brought appreciably nearer realisation.
