An executive committee meeting jof tHe A. and P. Association was | held in their otlices this morning. IMr J. W. Anderson presided, and j there was u good attendance of tnem- : bets. Experimental Plots. Mr G. F'. Baylis.. Fields Instruc- ' i tor, wrote asking whether the j association were desirous of carrying out co-operative experiments in 1 their district. She letter suggested i that a* small experiment committee | should he set up, and good and suit- ! i able men selected to undertake es ‘ periments in the district. The writer | stated that all those districts which j had undertaken co-operative expert’- ! merits had been most successful. The j experiments would include refrac- j tory soils and those usually considered worthless, experimenting with new seeds, inoculation of soils known | to ho deficient in those forms of j bacteria which form nodules on the roots of peas, beans, lucrcne, etc., I for the purpose of growing crops • upon them. 'The area of the plots are ; preferably small, but large enough j to use the usual farm implements j upon. Manures and seeds ate sup- j plied free and landed free of cost to , the nearest railway station. The I farmer provides tho land and labour, l and the crop grown is the property of the farmer, who must undertake to I carry out the details of the scheme , to the best of his ability. The! secretary was instructed to circu- ! [arise the farmers who would be I likely to take the scheme up. Alteration of Grandstand. Two lenders were received for the addition of a stewards’ room, I weighing loom, jockeys’ and casu- j ality room under the old grandstand. I and the tender of Mr Benson at i,‘lt)T Ufa was accepted. Thanks. Mrs F. F. McNicol wrote thanking the committee for electing her a life member of the association. Condolence. On the motion of the chairman a vote of sympathy was tendered to Mrs M. H. Pickering and family in their recent bereavement. Best Dairy Cow. A discussion took place over the award in the class for the best grade dairy cow in the show lor the Allen Gilford cup. A letter had been re ceived stating that the winning cow was not eligible to compete, it was pointed out that the winner was practically a grade, although an appendix three Holstein cow, and according to the ruling of other breeds was eligible. —The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Care, whose cow was second, to that effect.
