HAMILTON BAND CARNIVAL

A meeting of • the committee was held in the band room last night, Mr Brown being in the chair. The secretary rend a letter from Mr J. A, Young, M.P., in connection with (he extension of permit for the art union, which has been granted. It had been stated at a previous meeting that the committee hud written to the Minister of Internal Adairs asking for an extension, but there had been no reply. Subsequently it was discovered that no letter had been sent, and the secretary was instructed to write apologising for the statements that bad appeared in the press. On the motion of Mr Salmon, Mr Murdoch, of Messrs Murdoch and Harris, was elected a member of the committee. An offer from the same gentleman of the use of a Sanies piano gratis for (he carnival and practices was gratefully accepted. Professor Cardstun, who was present, slated that be had already se cured over 40 children for bis dances, and he felt confident that he would complete the number within a (lay or two. The rest of the meeting was devoted to routine work in connection with the carnival.
