By Telegraph.—Presi Association. Wellington, Last Night. Fines ranging from ill to £5, with costs, with the alternative of seven days, were imposed on several persons at the Magistrate’s Court for starving horses in the Upper Hutt district. It was stated in one case that no fewer than nine horses had died of starvation. Nelson, Last Night. Mr William Wastney, formerly chairman of the Waimea County Council, died last night after a lingering illness, aged 80. Dunedin. Last Night. Patricrk Coakley, 92 years of age, an inmate of the Mental Asylum at Waitati. wandered on September 24th. His body was found today in the bush two miles away from the institution.
