PIRONGIA.

The concert which took place here on Friday evening last in aid of the building fund of the Catholic Church, in course of erection here, was a great success under the most disadvantageous circumstances. The night was a most unpleasant one, strong gales, accompanied by thunder and I lightning raging; but strong in faith and love of their church a most sympathetic audience filled the public hall. The Rev. Father Lynch presided, while Mrs Sullivan and Miss Hattaway played the accompaniments. Songs were sung by Miss Muriel Higgins, Messrs Scott, Peat, C. Berry, R. Kay and others. Mr Milligan played a piano solo, which was a great success and encored, as was also a recitation by Mr Randrup. At the conclusion of the concert Father Lynch briefly thanked all those present for their help and services under such unpleasant weather conditions. Refreshments were distributed and enjoyed, the hall was cleared and the usual dance followed until an early hour.
