THE ENGLISH CRICKETERS.

Adelaide, November 11. Warner’s English team resumed play in their first innings against South Australia this afternoon. The weather was pleasant, and the wicket was perfect. The not out men, Warner and Foster, carried the score from 331 to 452, and then Warner retiredfive wickets for 152. The English captain had 150 runs to his credit, and had played a careful innings, which lasted fur 297 minutes, and he gave only one chance. Foster, in his partnership with Warner, had increased his overnight score of 34 to 111/ His century was hoisted as the result of 107 minutes’ play, during which he had the benefit of four chances. Douglas was the incoming batsman, but he only scored 10, and the board showed six wickets for 495 runs. Foster being 147 not out. Woolley joined Foster, and the pair carried the score to 525, when Foster lost his wicket. He had given a good display, his total standing at 158. The board showed 525 7 158. Woolley was dismissed without any further addition to the score, toe board reading 525 —8 innings closed for 563, Barnes being not out with 16. Received 5.5 p.m. 12th. Adelaide, November 12. South Australia have lost four wickets for 85. Mayne, b Foster, 0; Stilling, run out 1; Clem Hill, not out, 49; L. Hill, b Barnes, 7; Crawford, run out, 14; Down, not out, 4. Mayne and Stirling began the loal innings, Foster, and Barnes bowling. With two up Stirling was run out through a smart return by Hobbs. One run more Foster bowled Mayne with a svverver. At 21 Barnes bowled the younger Hill. Crawford came next, and scoring quiet. In the forties Douglas replaced Foster. The first 50 occupied an hour, and runs came steadily. Vine relieved Barnes at 75. The score was unaltered when Crawford was run out trying to steal a run. Hill, butting steadily, and Down played out time.
