LANDS FOR SETTLEMENT

A total of 1075 acres of secondclass (National Endowment) land in the Auckland Land District have been thrown open for selection under renewable lease, and applications close at the local Lands Office on Monday, July 24th. In cases where there is more than one applicant, a ballot will he, held on Thursday, July 27th. The following are the lands opened: —Section 3, Block V., and sections 6. 15 and 12, Block IX.. Paterere North S.D., Matamata County, and section 197, Apata Parish, Tauranga County. The areas are, respectively, 315, 189, 308, 188 and 75, acres, and the half yearly rentals £4 12s, £3 16s, £6 4s, £3 and £1 4s. ‘The first four sections are situated about five miles by formed road from Putaruru railway station, the soil being of a sandy nature, covered with fern and manuka.

On Friday, July 28th, an auction sale of suburban and rural lands will be held at the District Lands Office, Auckland, when the following areas will be offered for cash Section 9, town of Rangiriri, area 13ac 3r 37p, upset price £3O; section 7, Horotiu Parish, Waipa County, 14ac 2r, £l2; Purua S.D., Whangarei County, Block VIII.. sections 2 to 11 inclusive. The last mentioned sections are easily the most important of those offered, being situated on the North Auckland Main Trunk railway, about half a mile from Ruatangata station. Section 2 comprises lOac 21p, practically level land, planted in garden shrubs, flax and muricata pines, and is offered at an upset price of £520. Section 3, lOac, is in clumps of scattered forest, with lour-roomed house. The upset price is £550. Section 4, 15ac, bears nine acres mixed forest, also a fourroomed house and a whare, the upset price being £5lO. The remaining sec tions, which have areas varying from lac 2p to 4ac 30p, are offered at upset'prices ranging from £75 to £2OO.
