Waikato Winter Show.

A meeting ot the executive committee of the Waikato Winter Show was held yesterday afternoon. There were present—Messrs Bond chairman, Coates, Dibble, Hall, Goodwin, Parr, Varney and Parlane. —Accounts.— The following accounts were passed for payment:—Waikato Argus, 18s; borough council, £7 14s 9d; E. Norden, £1 18s 6d; Shakespear, £1 2s 6d. Mr Coates objected to the payment of £1 18s 6d for refreshments and expressed the opinion that no money should be spent for such a purpose. It was pointed out that this represented the whole of the expenditure for the week for workers and visitors. The chairman said he had authorised the secretary to procure whatever refreshments he considered necessary; but if the committee offered any objection he would willingly pay the amount himself. The committee, however, expressed their approval of the chairman's action by passing the account. —Future Shows. —■ The object of the meeting was really to consider suggestions for future shows, and the matter was dealt with in committee. The following recommendatoins were adopted:—That all field, garden and horticultural exhibits be grown by exhibitors and field produce grown under field condition; that the chaff exhibit be one sack just as it comes from the machine; that winners of champion honours in home industries classes be not allowed to compete in other classes; that the stewards be instructed to point out to the judge that no prize be allotted if the exhibit did not warrant it; that the schedule for farmers' bays be advertised in the local papers; the committee in charge of the horticultural section were empowered to collect prizes for the 1910 show and advertise same.
