Fire at Palmerston.

A fire broke out before midnight in Malcolm's large furniture warehouse. The fire had a strong hold and was not suppressed till one o’clock. The rear portion of the premises were practically destroyed, and the portion of the stock not destroyed by fire was badly damaged by water. The stock is worth over £4OOO and was insured for £ISBO, £SOO in the New Zealand, £SOO in the Standard, £SOO in the Royal, and £350 in the Alliance. The building was owned by Mr Childs.
