The Nimrod.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. In conversation with a Press reporter, Captain Evans, of the Nimrod, stated that it was his intention, after leaving Lyttelton on December 1, to proceed south under canvas, as he anticipated that strong westerly winds would be met with on the passage. To work the Nimrod south under her sails would make it a far less strain on the vessel, and.it would be much easier and more comfortable for those on board than it was when the vessel was towed by the Koonya. Granting that wind and weather are favourable, Captain Evans said he hoped to reach the pack ice by Christmas Day, and the time of the vessel's arrival at Mount Erebus would be largely governed by the conditions of the ice.
