Shocking Fatality.

By Telegraph.—Press Association Auckland, Last Night.

A shocking fatality occurred at the Newmarket railway station thismorning, when S. P. McMahon, a labourer on the permanent way staff, met instant death. McMahon had been instructed to carry some material from one end of the yard to the other. He was walking along the centre of one of the tracks and did not notice the 10.10 a.m. train from Kaipara was backing up to the station. Frantically though his companions shouted to apprise him of his danger, he was unfortunate enough to remain ignorant of his plight, and was consequently dashed to the ground by the train. His body was frightfully mangled. Death was almost instantaneous. McMahon was about 24 years of age. He was single, and resided at Onehunga.

In Chicago more than in any other place is woman regarded in the light of a thing of beauly and a joy for ever. There is hardly a man in Chicago who does not esteem feminine loveliness as something beyond price —something to live for, to strive for, to suffer for, and, if necessary, to die for.—lnter-Ocean, Chicago. For Children’s Hacking Cough a night Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure is 6d and 2s 6d.
