The first sports meeting of the Ngaruawahia Sports Club was held on the football ground yesterday, after being postponed from Empire Day. There were over 200 present.. The following are the results: — Maiden Handicap, 100 yds: S. Runciman 1, G. Calder 2. Six started. Hurdle Race, 220 yds: C. Humphreys 1, T. Edwards 2, J. Cogswell 3. Four started.

Ngaruawahia Cup Handicap, 100 yds., 220 yds., and 440 yds. Points to count 5 for Ist, 3 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd: S. Runciman 15 points, 1; C. Humphrey 7 points, 2; G. Davidson 4 points, 3. Ten started Half Mile Handicap: A. G. Duffill > 50yds., 1; A. Ross 20yds., 2; M. Harrison scratch, 3. Five started.

Mile Handicap: M. Harrison 35yds., 1; A. Ross 20yds., 2; A. Lockie 45yds., 3. Four started. Forced Handicap, 100 yds: L. Wagstaff Byds., 1, M. Harrison 6yds., 2; Elder 6yds., 3. Seven started. Aged Handicap, 100 yds., for competitors to be 37 years or over, Iyd. handicap allowed for each year over: G. Graves 14yds., 1. Seven started. Committee Race, 100 yds: A. Lockie Byds., 1; J. Powell scratch, 2; F. Parker 3.

Boys' Handicap, 16 years and under, 100 yds: W. Bidois 10yds., 1; J. Bidois scratch, 2. Four started.

Boys' Race, 10 years and under, 75yds: H. Booth 1. Ten started. Girls' Race, 14 years and under, 100 yds: E. Ridgely, 1; M. Booth 2. Handicap Chop, 15in. blocks: A. G. Duffill, 30secs., 1; W. Dent 30secs., 2. Eight competed. Maori Wrestle: Tuwhatau 1. Four competed. Girls' Race, 15 years and under, 100 yds: M. Booth 1. Young Ladies' Race: L. Graves 1; P. Fuller 2.

Mr. P. Duffill sen., acted as starter and gave every satisfaction, while Mr H. J. Wright St. Clair filled the duties of secretary. Mr A. Niccol judged, and although there were some very close finishes his decisions were never questioned. In the evening a most enjoyable social was held in the hall, when the prize money was paid over.—Own Correspondent
