Chess Match.

A telegraphic chess match between the Hamilton and Auckland chess clubs was played yesterday afternoon and evening, and resulted in a win for the City club. Five games went in favour of Auckland, one—Stevens v. Little —was drawn, and of the two unfinished games, one is likely to be a win for Mr Herbert, of Hamilton, and the other Priestly v. Boyes is likely to be a draw. The final result will therefore probably be Auckland 6, Hamilton 2. The umpires were Mr Hosking for Hamilton, and Messrs Pearson and Stonehouse for Auckland, and the Hamilton operating was performed by Messrs Peek and Castleton.
