Results : Suburban Hurdles, —Miss King 1, Waiwera 2, Scottish Minstrel 3. Narcissus was scratched. Dividends, .£2 los and 16s 6d. Spring Nursery. Kirriemuir 1, Lady Laudon 3, Stars and Stripes 3. At first, to one who had boon a regular attendin' at the races, there seemed to be something wanting, and ouo listened in vain for the loud roar of the “hooks” crying odds. AVhat c"e« ted a further feeling of strangeness was that the bookmakers’ enclosure, which always used to be crowded, was comparatively empty, a large proportion of the crowd massing on the opposite side of the straight. A roller had to be used on the straight after each race, and if there is more, wet the course will be badly cut up for Saturday. A total of X9BOI was put through the machine, or X 334 more than for any day last meeting. In the pony race P. James’ Storyteller fairly bolted from the field, and won by a dozen lengths. V.R.C.
