MURDER IN SYDNEY

Sydney, September 11 A man named Lorie, on bail on a charge of attempting to shoot his wife near Coonamble, as well as on a charge of cattle stealing, shot at a man named Harris, of whom he was jealous, and seriously wounded him. He then went to Quillbone station and shot dead the owner, Patrick Yeech, whose cattle Lorie was accused of stealing. Lorie is still at large.

A DREADFUL TRAGEDY. Melbourne, September 11. Constable Scannell, stationed at Sandringham, murdered his wife and three children. He battered their heads with a pickaxe and shot them with a revolver. He then shot himself dead. He has been brooding over imaginary troubles.
