WALTON.

On June 17 a football match was played in Mr E. Johnson's paddock, Waharoa, between the employees of Mr Suttie’s and Mr Eoresman’s flaxmills, which resulted in a victory for Mr Suttie’s employees by three points to nil. The game was well contested on both sides, and there was no evidence of rough play. One of the players was hurt early in the game, and had to leave the held. Mr MooreJonos, of Matamata, was referee, and gave the greatest satisfaction. Mr Tong, of Inglewood, Taranaki, who purchased Mr It. A. Foresman’s general storekeeping business at Waharoa, entered into occupation on Thursday last, and Mr Johnson, of Auckland, has taken over Mr Foresmau’s hlacksmithing business. All wish both gentlemen success in their enterprise. The sections on the Richmond Downs Estate seem to hang lire, only three having been taken up since the subdivision of the estate. This looks bad, seeing that scarcely a week passes but one or two gentlemen arrive in Walton looking for land. Like Matamata, it appears to me that the Government will have to take a hand in the settlement of this estate, and the sooner the better.—(Own Correspondent.)
