A letter was read from the secretary of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union giving names of officers elected at the annual conference, also asking that branch secretaries conform with the rules of the union as to furnishing the Provincial Council with the full particulars of members enrolled; enclosing extracts from the report of tho provincial organiser relating to methods to he adopted to make tho meetings more attractive, also explaining how tho levy of 5s per member is distributed ; further, that tho services of the provincial organiser bo retained. Considerable discussion took place on the subject of affiliation with the Farmers’ Union. The President said that the secretary had written to the Farmers’ Union stating that the club was not satisfied with the financial management of tho union, and asking for some information as to how tho funds were distributed, also stating that the club would not be responsible for any further levies from members in tho present transition state. Mr Jos. Gane said this was an important subject, and was of opinion that many of the mom hers would like to remain members of the union, hut would want to know on wkat terms. Mr T. Wells thought members should be members of the union direct. It was decided lo refer this question to tho executive to deal with. KE-ORG ANIMATION, Tho following letters from several branches in reply to a circular which had been sent with reference to the reorganisation of the branches had been received. From the Waingaro branch stating that owing to there being so few members and the difficulty of getting meetings this branch was practically dead. From the Hamilton branch stating that a resolution had been passed formally seceding from the Waikato Farmers’ Club. Mr Jos. Gane said lie endorsed the remarks made by the President, that tho charge for telegrams of Id for each word over the first 12 was an exorbitant one, which he considered might he reduced to Jd. There was also room for improvement in the delivery of telegrams, which, if sent to an office other than where such individuals’ letters were received, were posted on to the proper office, thereby causing unnecessary delay, i Mr Jno. Fisher said ho quite agreed with the president’s remarks on the necessity of discussing tho subjects ho . had mentioned, hut thought that to appoint committees was practically a vote of want-of-confidence in the Executive, which had these matters in hand.

The president explained that it was with no such intention he had made the proposal, but only that the work of dealing with the subjects might be spread over a wider area and a greater interest induced. He would alter his motion that it be a recommendation to the Executive that special committees to deal with those subjects he formed. —This was carried,
