HAMILTON CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Hamilton Crioket Association was held last evening There was a fair Attendance, and Mr Geo. Edgecumbe (President) occupied the ohair.
Report and Balance-sheet.- In his report the Secretary stated that the past season had not been a good one owing to the lack of interest shown in the game. An attempt had been made to get Lord Hawse's team to visit Waikato, but owing to their inability to provide the necessary guarantee, £IOO, for a two days' match the proposal fell through. This wasto beregretted, asthe Association felt that such an event would give a great impetus to erickot in the Waikato, and have been productive of a great deal of good. In order to approach the Now Zealand Cricket Council it had been necessary to contribute the sum of £2 2s, which under the circumstances, was a dead loss to the Association. The receipts for the year totalled £9 9s 10s and the expenditure £8 4s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £1 ss. The assets of the Association amounted to £l3 18s and the liabilities to £9 17s 6d. The report and balance sheet were received and adopted. The following officers were elected for the forthcoming season : —Patron, Mr F. W. Lang ; President, Mr G-. Er'gecumbe; vice Presidents, Mensrß C. J. W. Barton, J. S. Edgecumbe, K. S. Brookfield, H. E. Tristram, A. E. Manning, R. Gillett, W. Ranstead, and Rev. Pinfold ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr H. Chalmers; Auditor, Mr H. Dymook.
After some discussion re a district schema, the old committee were appointed to go into the matter and report to a general meeting as to the probability of getting three districts—Hamilton East, Hamilton West, and Fraokton.
The caps were won by Slade's team, who played six matches, won five, and lost one, the Kangatiras coming next with two wins and four losses. The success of 31ade's team was in a great measure due to the batting of Gleeson. The Association played two outside matches, one against Tuhikaramea and the other with Parnell. They won the former, but wera beaten in the latter. The financial position of the Association was not a satisfactory one, and attempts would have lo be made to put it on a more satisfactory basis. This season the Association would be without some of its strongest players, Messrs Blamires, Piatt, VV. Hammond, G. Mahon, and others, and unless a number of new players came forward they could scarcely hope to have three teams playing in the cap fixtures. A voto of thanks to the outgoing officers and to the chair concluded the meeting.
