MAORI COUNCIL
(BY TELEGRAPH—PKHS9 ASSOCIATION.) Huntly, Last Night. The Maori Land Council opened to-day, Judge Mair and Mr J. W. Browne (Registrar of the Native Lund Court) having arrived yosterdny for the purpose. Mr Kaihau, M.H.R, is also expectod. Messrs James Macky, W. A. Graham, VV. J. Ralph, J. St. Clair (solicitor), und a number of native agents have already arrived, and the Hon. Mahuta was present at the station to meet the memliors. The natives have arranged the nomination of the Papatupu Block Committee to compile a list of the owners of the Moer rangi block of 47,000 acres at Aotea, and a large number of applications for leases of land have been lodged
