SOUTH AUCKLAND RACING CLUB The annual meeting of the South Auckland Racing Club Lakes place at Claudelands to- morrow, when it is expected that the most successful meeting yet held by the Club will eventuate- The entries this year were much larger tlirn usual ; but the extraordiunry handicaps issued by Mr Kvetl caused a great deal of dissatisfaction amongst horse-owners, uud consequently a heavy list of defections. There are still, however, a sufficient number of horses in each race to make the meeting an interesting one from a sportsman's point of view. Six have sc cepted for the Cup. ten for the Pony, seven for the S'eepleuha»e, nine for the Hurdles, seven for the trial, nine for the Claudeland.s Handicap, nine for the Flying, and uine for the Hack Race, and all things considered this must be look upon as highly satisfactory. The course is reported to be in excellent condition, thanks to the efforts of those who have undertaken the work, and although it would he improved by a shower of rain, the the track has been livened up and softened by aj liberal application nf the harrows. Gwynne, on behalf of the Club, waited on him in connection with the Club's invitation to Hi* Excellency aud the officers of the fleet to be present at the races on Saturday. They were introduced by His Worship the Mayor to His Excellency, who said he was very sorry that the limited time at his disposal would not permit of him accepting the invitation, but he hoped on some future occasion ro be able to avail himself of the Club's hospitality. The invitation had been notified to the officers of the squadron by general signal, and several of them, including two of the Captains, would avail themselves of it. Mr Berries, the President of the Club, will he at the meeting, and will receive the visitors on arrival, and during the afternoon they will be entertained at luncheon, the arrangements for which are in Mr Uettley'a capable hands. The following train arrangements have been made in connection with the South Auckland Races, to be held on Saturday : A special train will leave Auckland at' 645 a.m., Rangiriri 0.35, Huntly 10.5, Nearuawnhia 10.30, Pukete 10.38, Tc Ripa 10.40, Frankton 11.5, arriving Ki'ikiriroa at 11.12 a.m.

Return special will leave Kirikiriroa at 0.10 p.m., reaching Auckland at 10.42, stopping were required to set flown pas' sengers.
