PHENOMENAL SHOOTING. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRKSS ASSOCIATION'.) TftKNTitAM, last Night. The shooting to-day in the Auckland match was a phenomenal record for the colony, and probably for Australasia. Out of the total entries were 95 from Rifle Clubs, the men never shot better than in the opening match, and Hyde, of Opaki, and Lester, of Christchurch, made 100. even with the unperfeetlight. and this is a remarkable performance. Turner, of Wellington, was only a little behind, putting up 99, while Speck and Ching made 98 each, which in ordinary years would have secured first prize Napier had the honour of making first possibles through the shooting of the veteran E. W. Williams and Howard. There were numerous 34's aud 33's at 500 yards and four possibles. Ching, Nelson ; Corporal Jack, Linwood ; Whitley, Kaiapoi, and Davidson, Wairoa. At 600 yards the fine quality of shooting was maintained, China coming next to Hyde and Lester with 98. Auything under 9S was scarcely regarded by the uulookers. This Pay. The Wel.ington match was commenced this morning at ranges of 500 and GOO yards, ten shots, for 38 prizes ranging from £6 6s to £l. The weather was overcast, and there w»s a strong, battling breeze. The scoring at the first range was not much above the average. MoKee, of the Piako Mounteds, is top as yet with 49. Mindall, of Karori, and Armitage, of Taranaki, are next with 47.
