WAIKATO FARMERS' CLUB.

WHATAWHATA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the above branch was held on Saturday evening. There was a fair attendance of members, Mr E. C. Shepherd presid ! ng. Mr James Wathen was fleeted a member of the Club. The Waipa County Council wrote thanking the branch for the letter on burnt clay for roads, but there being no suitable clay procurable the Council could not entertain the matter. The general secretary wrote notifying that circulars for members, re fees, had been posted, also requesting that the annual accounts be made up and forwarded as soon as possible after the end of February.—lt was decided that this should be done. The secretary of the -Farmers' Union wrote informing the branch that the Provincial Conference had been postponed until April 23rd and 24th. J •:, .v"3 The Manager of The Waikato Argus offered to forward a copy of the paper to the branch for the purpose of filing for reference by the members.—The offer was accepted with thanks, the opioion being freely expressed that the AItUOS was always alive to the interests of the farmers.

Before separating some discussion took place on the question of abortion in dairy cows, which is now being investigated by Government experts. This matter is becoming serious on the Waipa, some of the milk suppliers being unable to get more than half their cows in the bails the second season.
