PRESENTATION TO SIR J. G. WARD.
BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, This Day. The Clyde Quay branch of the Liberal Labour Legislation have presented Sir J. G. Ward with a claret bowl and silver cigar case. The Premier, who was present, referred to the Fatea election as a tribute to the ability of Mr Edwards, the Liberal organiser, who, betook occasion to say, had been ordered by Sir J. Mackenzie to leave the Waihemo district. Mr Edwards had been much criticised, but. while his efforts were so successful he need not care a jot about the other side. He alto referred to the splendid way Sir J. G. Ward had lived down his traducers.
In replying, Sir J. G. Ward said that he recognised and respected those who on principle objected to titular distinctions, but, as against that, he had been overwhelmed with congratulations. Mr May also received a presentation yesterday in recognition of his hard work during his two terms of office.
