SEVERE EARTHQUAKES.
[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION]. (BY ELKCTRIC TELEGRAPH-COPYRIGHT) Received October 9, 9.30 a.m.) Sydney, October 9. News from New Britain records a series of severe earthquake shocks. During the visit of the German steamer Stettin to Ralun the first shock lasting a minute occurred, and 32 shocks followed. The water receded from the bay, and a small tidul wave followed. It is believed the island was lifted four feet.
