AUSTRALIANS AT WINDSOR. SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE. COLONIAL CASUALTIES. London, October 6. Great Britain purchased for South Africa in America 10,000 horses, 42,000 mules, and 10,000,000 dollars' worth of forage. The 80 invalided Australian soldiers who formed the guard of honour at the banquet to Lord Hopetoun. visited Windsor Castle. The Queen gave them special facilities, and commanded them to he provided with a substantial tea. The Mayor of Windsor and the officers of the Guards entertained the men in the evening. The Australians were subsequently feted at Oxford.' General Baden-Powell's first-class police receives 9s a day, besides rations. The third - class receive 7s a day for two years' service. The term is renewable, or they may join the reserve, receiving £1 a mouth. The following casualties are reported : Sergeant Sullivan, New South Wales, death from enteric fever, and Private Paul, Yictorian, from concussion. Bosworth, who, with Private Coffey of the Mounted Infantry, are the only New Zealanders represented. DE WET NEAR WEPENER. COLONIAL CASUALTIES. LORD ROBERTS TO LEAVE AT END OF THE MONTH. THE COLONIALS FOR ENGLAND. (Received October 9,12,85 a.m.) London, October 8. Do Wet is said to be in the vicinity of Wepener. Two of the Australian Mounteds were captured near Rouxville, and a New Zealander (A. C. Adams) was slightly wounded at Vlakfontein. . The Daily News says that Lord Roberts leaves South Africa in the last week in October. The representatives of the colonial troops to visit England will be limited to 6000 men.
