PRESENTATION.r-Tho balance accruing from a recent social has been spent in the purchase of an opal ring and a pair of serviette rings which have been forwarded to Mrs E, A. Dawson, while a silver teapot has been sent to Mis 3 H. and a'gold, bangle to Miss L. Talbot. The gifte will serve us mementoes of their stay in Huntly, and remind the ladies that the services they so ungrudgingly gave were appreciated. Appointment.—Mr (Jotham from the Wellington section has been, it is reported, appointed to Huntly vice Mr E. A Dawsoo, transferred to Wellington. Public Meeting,—For the purpose of adjusting matters connected with the cemetery a public meeting was held in the Volunteer Hall on Friday night, the Eev. J. E. Ward being voted to the chair. After the chairman had detailed the unsatisfactory condition of " God's Acre," Messrs L. B. Harris, seur., and R. R. Ralph explained their position j,s trustees, stating that they had never charged burial fees, but had been obliged to depend on voluntary aid and douatious for the upkeep of the cemetery. For the future it would heabsoliitely necessary tomake reasonable charges to defray cost of repairs aud caretaking. Messrs Motrin and Gear) expressed the opinion that something should be done at once, the latter tnoviug that Messrs S. Pearce and R. Hetherington be asked to resign form the board of trustees, and that the remaining trustees, Messrs Harris and Ralph be-asked to call a publit meeting for the purpose of electing three new members. This motion which was seconded by Mr Geo, Harwood was carried, aud the Chairman was instructed to communicate the terms of the motion of them. Mr Geo. Harwood, a member of the Musical Association, started by Mr Maedonatd, stated that there was in the bank some fifteen pounds to the credit of the defunct institution, and that, from the opinions expressed by several of the members, that sum would bn handed over for the purpose of putting thn cemetery in ordor. On the morion of Mr Gleeson, whose seconder was Mr A. Geary, it was resolved that Mr Harwood take the necessary steps to secure the balance. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the proceedings.— (Own Correspondent).

To a New Zealand busiuess man whom he met in London, Sir Thomas said : ''Advertise in the journal which yon know to be progressive, which is alive to the wants of your people and district." There is only one journal in Waikato which answers to this description and that is Tiie Waikato Ahgtjs, Teuders are wanted for the erection of a, house at Ngaruawahia, aud Council Gaatnbbi':., at Cambridge.
