TUHIKARAMEA.

The Weather. —The late stormy weather has been a considerable hindrance to those who have still the balance of thtir ttrain crop to put in, and since the rain has lessened a continuance of bleak westerly winds has proved anything but conducive to the free growth of grass and crops. However, the land is drying quickly, so that the press of spring work will soon be out of hand. Cricket Club.-The annual meeting of the local cricket club was held a fewdays ago. There was a good attendance and a very satisfactory balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of about £4, was read. The accounts were adopted, and arrangements made for a vigorous campaign diuiug the ensuing seasou. ah h. Reid was appointed Hon. Ssc. Farmers' Club. Next Thursday evening a meeting of settlers will be held at the schoolroom to discuss the advisability of iorming a local branch of the Waikato Farmers' Club. Judging by the remarks uttered, and the very cordial feeling generally manifested towards the parena club, there is little doubt that a good working branch will be established. It has also been suggested that at these meetings, which will bring the settlers together, other matters affecting the welfare of the district might 1)0 discussed, and united action taken where necessary. .Settlers have certainly had some striking object lessons on the value of unity during the p«3t few years, and also of the futility of endeavouring to do much by individual, or isolated action. Had the same spirit that is now abroad, been manifested a score years ago, Waikato would probably have been better off than it is to-day.—(Own CoriTiiponduul).
