Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report.—Horses : At the Haymarket on Friday last we had a large attendance and many buyers, consequently a good sale at advanced prices, and, with the exception of a few unsound and ordinary horses, all changed hands We quote : Heavy draughts, up to £4O; medium draughts, £l9 to £3l 10s, according to age :; useful farm horses, £ls to£lß ; strong hacks and harness horses, £lO to £l4 ; common sorts, £4 to £8 ; handsome weight-carrying hack, £25 ; light taxcart, £lO 30a; springcart, £lO ; second-hand waggonetco, £l6. Hay and straw : A small quantity only brought forward. Meadow hay at very low price. Straw sold freely at 153 to i2s the load. Hides, skins, tallow, etc. : On Tuesday we again catalogued a large number of skins and hides of good quality. Tallow was also iu heavier supply than usual. Skins sold freely, up to 4s 5d for best, and 3s 8d to 4s 3d were the ruliug prices ; a few lighter aud dry, 2s 4d to 2s lOd ; pelts, lOd ; lambskins, 8d to Is each; small parcels longwool, per lb. j Hides : For ox the demand was easier, prices being from 3fd to 4fd ; cow, firmer, 3|d and 3fd being the ruling prices ; calfskins, 3|d tos|d per lb. Tallow, 19s 6d to 23s for best, and 14s 6d to 16s 3d the cwt for ordinary ; rough fat, IJd to lfd lb ; tails, 2s Id per dozen. Grain, etc.: At auction, damaged maize sold at 2s Id ; damaged wheat, Is 8d ; barley, Is lOd to 2s bushel; local potatoes, £2; wheatnieal, £3 ; chaff, £2 to £2 17s per ton ; maize, ex wharf, 2s 4d to 2s sd, short supply and strong demand for export. Ex store oats, 2s 4d 'to 2s 6d ; maize, 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; wheat, 2a 8d to 9d per bushel; prime chaff, £6 sd; Sydney bonedust, £7 ss; superphosphates, £5 5s ; Chesterfield guano, £3 15s; pressed hay, £2 10s to £3 10s per ton. At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows, in usual number, were dull of sale. Prices for those at profit were from £4 to £5 10s ; dry cows, £2 10s to £4 Is ; strong calves, £1 to 353 each. Fat and young calves, penned in average numbers, were at late values; freshdropped, 4s to 8s; medium, 10s to 15s; heavy, up to £2 6s ; 60 sold. There was a fair muster of beef, and all of real good quality, whioh was firm at last week's quotation, 20s to 23s the 1001 b. Prices for steers were from £7 to £ll 2s 6d;cows, £4 10s to £8 each ; 220 sold. A draft of 15 three-year-old steers from Mr William Taylor's Green Hill Estate, ; Te Awamutu, averaged £9 5s each ; and 10 steers of Mr Harry Gollan's averaged £lO 4s 6d each. The sheep pens were well filled and full kept last week's values. Wethers wero from 17s to £1 Is 9d ; lighter sorts, 14s to 16s ; ewes, 13s to 17s ; hoggets, 10s 6d to 12s, 1100 sold. Spring lambs were from 8s to 12s 9d for well-fatted ; small, 5s 6d to 7s 6d each ; 100 sold. Pigs, scarce, at late values.
