RECEPTION TO TROOPER J. WRIGHT.
An informal meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held at the Council Chambers ut noon. Present :—His Worship the Mayor (Mr Ceorge Edgeoumbe), Crs. E. J, Dttvoy, It VV.Dyer, J. W. H. Bright. A. E. Manning and J. S. Bond. Apologies for absence were received from Urs. T. Slade and C. Tippin. The Mayor explainer] that the meeting had been culled to see what eleps should he taken to welcome back Trooper J. Wright, on his return fmm the Transvaal, as he was the fmt of the local men to return. He thought it would be fitting for the Council to me»t V\o train and welcome him back to Hamilton. (Jr. Dyer acquiesced in the proposal and suggested that he be entertained at a public luncheon. The Mayor proposed that the Committee consisting of Crs. Dyer, Manning and tho mover be appointed to confer with Captain Hume as to the reception. Seconded by Cr. Bond and carried. Cr. Bond proposed that the Mayor and Councillors attend at the atation to accord a formal welcome to Trooper Wright, and that the townspeople be invited to take part in the reception. Seconded by Cr. Manning and carried. ,
