CAPTURE OF BEITISH CONVOY. FORTY-EIGHT CAVALRY MISSING-. POLICE PATROL AMBUSHED. TREACHEROUS ACTION BY THE BOERS. FOUR MEN SHOT. (Received October 5, 9.20 a.m.) London, October 4. Sixty cavalry who were escorting 22 waggons in the vicinity of Vryheid ;were attacked by 140 Boers. Twelve escaped, and the Natal Volunteers are searching for the remainder. The Boers ambushed a police patrol of five near Ladybrand. They ordered " handß up," and treacherously shot two dead and wounded two others.
