BOWLING.
Yesterday the bowling green, which Mr W. Taylor has laid down on his property, in Victoria-street, Hamilton, was formally opened. There were three rinks and the opening ceremony was performed by Mrs Graham, Mrs Cox and Mrs Taylor respectively. The scene at the time was au animated one, there being a large number of ladies and gentlemen present who had been invited to take part in the ceremony. In addition, there were two teams present, who had journeyed trom Cambridge for the purpose of trying conclusions with the Hamilton players, and doiug there share in adding eclat to the occasion. The green was pronounced by all to be in excellent order, considering the short time it has been laid down. The following are the results of the games between Ha.nilton and Cambridge : On No. 1 Rink Hamilton was represented by Messrs W. Taylor (skip), C. C. Cox, S. Harker and J. Volkner, and Cambridge by Messrs W. F. Buckland (skip), O'Toole, Riley and Edwards. Hamilton won the game by 21 to 8. On No. 2 Rink Cambridge was represented by Messrs W. Wright (skip), Clarke, Popple and McDermott, and Hamilton by Messrs G- South (skip), Bright, Creightou and Varney. Cambridge won one game by 22 to 5.
We understand that Hamilton will play Cambridge on the 9th November,, and that steps are to be taken to form' a Hamilton Bowline Club.
