CATTLE SALE AT PAPAKURA.

A VERY large sale of store cattle was hold by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company at Papakiua on Monday. About 3UOO head of cattle were yarded, and were generally of good quality. The New Zealand Herald, in its report of the sale, says : The prices realised have not betn, in the experience of some of the hest judges, equalled during the past 10 or 15 years, and compared with lust year's sales big cattle have advanced from £1 10s to £2, while among the small cattle there was also the same comparative rise. The top figure was £7 (is, which was hid for a particularly fine pen of 12 steers, from Kaiwaka. Grown steers brought from £5 2s to £7 6s ; two-year olds" from £4 15s to £5 13a ; cows, from £2 15s to £4 14s ; and calves from £1 8s to £2 1 Is, A few gralc Shorthorn bulls were offered, and several found purchasers at about £5 ss, while one fetched £8 ss. To give some idea of the bidding we quote a few of the better-priced lots. Thirteen steers from Waiheke Island, £4 14s each; 10 from Matakohe, £5 13s ; Ife from Matakohe, £5 19s ; 12 from Kaiwaka, £7 5s ; 12 from Kaiwfcka, £6 7s 6d ; 12 from Kaiwaka, £6 4s ; 17 from Whangarei, £6 Is; 17 from Whangarei, £6 5s ; 17 from Whangarei, £5 17s; 14 from Waipu, £5 15s ; 14 from Woipu, £5 12s fid ; 12 from Warkworth, £5 18s 6d ; 13 from Warkworth, £5 10s ; 16 from Warkworth, £5 2s.
