THE LATEST. LORD ROBERTS AND THE . BOERS. AN ARMISTICE OF FIVE DAYS GRANTED. BOERS CONCENTRATED IN THE BUSH VELDT. AN EARLY SURRENDER EXPECTED. DE WET HAS 900 MEN AND 3 GUNS. CITY VOLUNTEERS ARRIVE IN LONDON ON NOVEMBER sth. ROBERTS CANNOT RETURN SO £OON. Received September 28,9.10 a.m.) London, September 25. Lord Roberts has granted the Boers an armistice of five days, and it is expected that Erasmus will surrender. Schalkburger, the acting-President of tho Tranevaal Boers, Viljoen and the bulk of the Boers, concentrated in the bush veldt east of Pietersburg. It is an unhealthy situation, and it is believed that these Boers are likely to surrender. De Wet is reported to be southwest of the Kopjes Station, 900 men with three guns being with him. Lord Roberts announces that the City Volunteers will arrive in London on November oth, but fears that be himself will not return so soon.
