(by telegraph.—press association). N.Z. INSURANCE COMPANY. Auckland, Last Night. The Directors of the New Zealand Insurance Company have declared an interim divideud of 2s per share. CHARITABLE AID. The Charitable Aid Board, by six to three, decided not to asl; for an enquiry into the administration of charitable aid at the hands of Dr. McGregor, InspectorGeneral. TRIAL OF MAORI PRISONERS. The trial of the Maori prisoners at tbe Supreme Court, wiiieh commenced today, is expected to last the greater part of the week. About twenty witnesses are to be examined for the prosecution, and a number of native witnesses for tbe defence. BODY FOUND. News has been received from Holdanga that the body of Mano, a Maori, who was drowned a few days ago, has been recovered. GOLD RETURN. The Waihi Goldmining Company crushed 5891 tons for the month, for bullion worth £18,128. A STRANGE CASE. TVnr. J. Hamilton was arrested to-night on a charge of alleged misappropriation of funds of the Citizens' Life Insurance Company. At the police station he was taken seriously ill. Dr. King, who came in, thought he had taken something and gave him an emetic and sent him to the Hospital, where the medical men further treated him under the impression he had taken something. He is in a critical condition.
