PORT ALBERT.

[from our own correspondent]. On Monday, June 41b, a very enjoyable party took place at Frith wood, Tauhoa, the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E. Boler. Their third son, Theophilus E. Boler. was married, to Miss EEdwards, of -Warkworth. The marring'e ceremony was performed by the brother of the "bridegroom, the Bev. It. G Boler of the Wairoa, at the residence of the brides mother. "Wark wort o. The happy pair then rode to the Tauhoa where over forty friends were assembled to me< t them and give them three hearty cheers An adjournment was then made to the large dining room where tea was all ready, the tables literally groaning under the weight of the eatables the quality of which was equal to anything to he seen at any restaurant in town. When tea was over and everything cleared away a start was made with the dance. Mr S. E. Boler acted as M.C. and discharged his duties in a very efficient manner. Eun commenced in real earnest and was kept up till midnight, when after inspecting the presents which were numerous and all very useful and having partaken of an excellent supper we all wended our way home with good wishes foi the happy couple for I think, Mr. Editor, they are generally happy the first day if never again. Fuller information having come to hand m regard to the death of Mr McCartney. I must state that the deceased was not killed as I informed you in my last, but he was taken had with the dyptlieria and while some of his mates were bringing him over from Barrier Island for medical advice, the poor fellow choked and expired. Very great sympathy is felt for the family of the deceased who was a young man m the prime of life, and very well liked by all who kn i-w him. The weekly meeting- of the Mutual Improvement Society took p'ace on Saturday at the usual time and place, the President in the chair. Xhe following programme was gone through. Iteaawere given by Miss 0 übl> and Miss Beecroft, songs by Miss Coubrough and Mr C. Walker, “ Hard Times Come Again No More,” by the former and “ The Soldiers Funeral” by the young man. Mrs D. Beecroft played a selection on the harmonium which was a great treat as the music at our meetings. I am sorry to say, is getting less every week. This being the night for impromptu speeches the following were given, “Friendship,'’ Mr G. Walker : ” Acciuuuts Mr .si. Turner ; “Good Manners, Mr L. 1. JBeecroft.
