W.C.T.U.

BUSINESS AT MASTERTON MEETING. The W.C.T.U. held its first meeting tor this year on Thursday last in Knox Hall, when Mrs. Speight presided over a good attendance of members. The devotional period was led by Mrs. Jansen, after which afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Moriee and Speight. It was decided to hold special prayer meetings each month, when an invitation would be extended to all interested to attend. Arrangements for a shop day to be held in the near future were discussed, the date to be decided on nt the March meeting.

The Temperance fact, a statement made by Dr. Wilfrid Grenfell, was supplied by Mrs., Speight, as follows: “It is just the damage that liquor does to the most important cell elements in the human body that makes it impossible for a surgeon to do his work. From any point of view, alcohol is unnecessary and inadvisable.’’

At the close of a meeting, recently, Mrs. Miller, in an appropriate sp<t>eh, presented Mrs. Speight with a handsome floor rug together with the best wishes for her future happiness. Mrs. Speight suitably responded.
