WAIRARAPA PRIMARY SCHOOLS TOURNEY.' Tr GOOD STANDARD OF PLAY. The Wairarapa Primary School , tennis championships were held at the Memorial Club’s courts this week when a high standard of play, particularly in the girls' events, was witnessed. The tourney, which was capably organised and controlled, was organised by Mr. J. A. Kennedy, a member of the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association, assisted by the following: Misses Dawson, O’Donnell and Talbot, Messrs B. Chalmers, C. L. Brock and C. Talbot. The semi-finals and finals resulted as follow:— Boys’ singles.—Semi-finals: D. Stevens (St. Patrick’s) beat J. Siemonek (Fernridge), 6/5; P. O'Brien (St. Patrick’s) beat J. O’Brien (St. Patrick's) 6/3. Final: P. O’Brien beat Stevens, 6/3. Girls’ singles: Semi-finals, M. Syron. (St. Bride’s) beat N. Fowler (Whatman), 6/3; B. Corrigan (St. Bride’s) beat E. De very (St. Patrick’s), 6/3. Final: M. Syron beat B. Corrigan, 6/L Boys’ doubles: Semi-finals, Stevens and O’Brien (St. Patrick's) beat Siemonek and McKeown (Fernridge), 6/1; Welch and Mayes (Central) beat Condon and J. O’Brien (St. Patrick's), 6/5. Final: Stevens and O’Brien beat Welch and Mayes, 6/3. Girl’s doubles.— Semi-finals: P. O’Connell and B. Corrigan (St. Bride’s) beat M. Jameson and M. Syron (St. Bride’s) 6/4; A. Edge and R, Hanley (Solway) beat M. Collinson and V. Johnston (St. Patrick’s), 6/5. Final: P. O’Connell and B. Corrigan, beat A. Edge and R. Hanley, 6/2.
