WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for tlffi 24 hours end-, ed 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.06; shade temperature, maximum, 78.5; minimum, 42.0; terrestrial, 31.8; sunshine, 8 hours 3 minutes. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 3 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity now covers the Tasman, with its centre over the north-eastern portion and extends on to New Zealand; a fresh depression is, however, located over south-eastern Australia. Forecast: Northerly winds on parts of the East Coast, otherwise south-westerly or westerly prevailing but later veering to northerly generally about and south of Cook Strait, force mainly light to moderate but strong at times in the far south and freshening shortly also in the Cook Strait area. Weather: For the most part fine but some isolated showers probable in the western and far southern portions of the South Island; cool to-night but temperatures rising generally. Sun rises, 4.45 a.iq.; sets, 7.56 p.m. Lighting-up time, 8.26 p.m.
