WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday: Barograph, 30.18; shade temperature, maximum 52.2, minimum 45.8; terrestrial, 43.9; sunshine, 5 minutes; rain, 32 points. Solway, Mr. H. M. Boddington reports that 31 points of rain fell at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. yesterday.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 3 p.m. yesterday:—A depression is centred west of the North Island and is moving slowly eastwards; an anti-cyclone is now situated over Eastern Australia and extends on to the western Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds northerly to northeasterly mainly but south-easterlies still prevailing about Cook Strait, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force at times in parts of the latter area; a change to southerlies later gradually extending over the Dominion. Weather: Cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy, fairly general rain probable with some heavy falls, more especially in eastern and central districts; temperatures becoming colder during to-morrow. Sun rises, 6.08 a.m.; sets, 5.31 p.m. Lighting-up time: 6.1 p.m.
