Masterton: .Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.59; shade temperature, maximum, 63.2; minimum, 28.9; terrestrial, 20.5; sunshine, 9 hours 54 minutes; frost, 9.9 degrees. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 3 p.m. yesterday:—An anti-cyclone has remained practically stationary over the Dominion while a depression located over the south-west Tasman Sea has gradually intensified. Forecast: Winds southeasterly to easterly, backing to northeasterly north of Kawhia and East Cape, elsewhere northerly to northwesterly prevailing, force light to moderate mainly but strong and squally in Foveaux Strait and freshening to-mor-row south of New Plymouth. Weather: Fine generally at first but clouding over shortly in Westland and the far south, with rain developing; later conditions becoming unsettled generally in districts with a westerly aspect; temperatures mild. Sun rises, 6.37 a.m.; sets, 5.13 p.m. Lighting up time, 5.43 p.m.
