ROAD FATALITY.

WESTLAND CORONER’S VERDICT. HOKITIKA, April 30. At an inquest concluded to-day the District Coroner returned a verdict that Albert Ephraim Simms died in the Westland Hospital on April 10 from a fractured skull and lacerated brain, the result of being struck by a motorcar, driven by Alfred James Andrews, in the previous evening, in Fitzherbert Street, under circumstances that call for further investigation. The Coroner also stated an opinion that the speed at which the striking car was travelling was excessive, when, visibility conditions on the night in question were taken into full consideration. —(P.A.)
