Masterton: Miss? A. Af. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 29.60; shade temperature, maximum, 58.6; minimum, 45.8; terrestrial, 37.2; sunshine, nil; rain, 6 points. The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yester-day:-—A fairly intense depression covers the New Zealand area to-day, but is moving eastwards, while an anticyclone is advancing across the Tasman. Forecast: Winds, south-westerly to southerly, moderate to strong generally, in places reaching gale force, gradually moderating to-morrow. Weather: Cold, unsettled and squally generally; rain at times. Some heavy falls probable, especially in Eastern districts. Hail on parts of the coast and snow on the ranges of the South Island. Improvement setting in soon on the West Coast of the South Island and extending gradually over the Dominion.
