Miss Edna Robb, of Masterton, left yesterday to take up a position on the nursing staff of the' Porirua Mental Hospital. Mrs. J. H. Cunningham and Miss Katherine Cunningham, Lansdowne, have left for a short visit to Christchurch, to attend the Christ’s College sports. The death took place in Palmerston North oijjK'ednesday of Mrs. Harriet Annie wife of Mr. James Mclntyre, of Tomoana Road, Hasting*. Mr. R. C. Cowper, Masterton, is a brother of the late Mrs. Mclntyre. At last night’s meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust it was decided to send a letter of sympahy to the relatives of the late Mrs. Fielding; who had been a tenant of the Trust for a considerable period of years, expressing the Trust’s regret at the breaking of this link with the past. Mesdames A. J. Drew and B. P. Perry, Misses D. and B. Todd (Masterton) arc staying at “Cranleigh,” Palmerston North, for the Manawatu golf tournament this week. Miss S. Collins, Featherston, is the guest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Abraham, Park Road, Palmerston North. Miss J. Horuabrook, of Masterton, is also the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham. The death occurred in Wellington yesterday morning, at the age of 78 years, of Mr. W. H. Bennett, a wellknown city builder and a member of the Wellington City Council. He was born in Wellington and had lived there all his life. In addition to the City Council, he served on several bodies closely associated with the work of the city. Hi>*greatest energies were given to the City Milk Department in the control and guidance of which he took a leading part from the inception of the scheme. In 1919 he was appointed a representative of the City Council on the Technical College Board of Governors and in the following year was elected chairman.
