PACIFIC FLIGHT.
CHINA CUPPER SERVICE. START ON PRELIMINARY FLIGHT. REGULAR SERVICE TO BEGIN ON OCTOBER 21. (Received Thursday, 6.0 p.m.) BAN FRANCISCO, October 8. The China Clipper departed at 3.24 p.m., Pacific time, on the first of two preliminary flights before a regular weekly passenger service starts on October 21. The 'plane is carrying thirteen persons, including the crew, five journalists and one representative of Pan-American Airways. It is due at Manilla on Tuesday morning. The flight will be the culmination of four years’ preparation, including one year of test flying during which 52 perfect flights were made between San Francisco and Manila.
