COSY THEATRE.

TWO FEATURE PROGRAMME.

The picture version of Owen Wister’s famous story “The Virginian,” is one of two feature films included in the new programme to be screened at the Cosy Theatre this evening at 7.45. Gary Cooper has the title role, Walter Huston that of the fast-shooting villain, and Richard Arlen, Mary Brian and Eugene Pallette are in the supporting cast of the production, which was adapted from the novel and play by Owen Wister and Kirk LaShelle. Hundreds of bellowing cattle, hard-riding and straight-shooting cowboys and rustlers form the background for a delightful love story and outdoor film classic. The memorable battles between the McFaddens and the McTavishes in their classic feud provide the background of the amiable and always interesting Paramount film, “McFadden’s Flats,” also included in the programme, which introduces Walter Kelly, a famous American stage actor, to the screen. Supported by Andy Clyde, Jane Darwell, Richard Cromwell and Betty Furness, Kelly acts the role of the battling Irishman who rises from brick-laying to wealth without once relenting in his feud with his Scottish enemy. Reserves at Perry’s, ’phone 2496.
