COMMERCIAL AIR SERVICES.
VISIT OF ENGLISH EXPERT TO NEW ZEALAND. REPORT STILL CONFIDENTIAL. WELLINGTON, October 6. Mr. F. G. L. Bertram, Deputy-Direc’ tor of Civil Aviation for the British Air Ministry, leaves Auckland by the Aorangi on Tuesday on his return to England. He is now visiting relatives at the Bay of Islands. Discussing Mr. Bertram’s visit in an interview this evening, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, expressed the opinion that nothing but good would come of it. Mr. Bertram had taken part in the discussions on future commercial air services over the Tasman and Pacific but the recommendations which developed from those discussions were still confidential. In addition, Mr. Bertram had conferred with the New Zealand authorities on all points regarding Uie expansion of internal air services in the Dominion. His report in that direction would doubtless be available to the Government in the near future. Mr. Savage stated that if Mr. Bertram left by the Aorangi he would be travelling in company with the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W| Nash. Advantage would probably be taken of that to continue the discussions on various aspects of Empire air mail and commercial aviation policy.— (P.A.)
