WEATHER REPORTS.
Masterton: Miss A. M. Brown reported as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:— Barograph, 30.19; shade temperature, maximum, 69.0; minimum, 43.5; terrestrial, 32.3; sunshine, 11 hours.
The Government Meteorologist (Dr. E. Kidson) reported at 4 p.m. yesterday:—A depression is crossing the Dominion to-day and it is being followed by a secondary one across the Tasman Sea. An anti-cyclone is still centred north of New Zealand and another one is now located over Eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, northerly to westerly predominating, strong and squally in parts of the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas, but otherwise mainly moderate, backing at times to south-westerly in many places. Weather: Mainly fair in eastern coastal areas; otherwise cloudy to overcast and with rain at times, but more especially in districts with a westerly aspect. Improving during tomorrow in most parts. Temperatures cool to moderate.
